Our Vision for Australia

Improve local commercialisation for a better Australia

Australian Technology

Australia is recognised globally as a world leader in research and innovation. Public funded research has been supported by primary industry for decades, working directly with local research organisations. As a nation we are yet to realise our full potential.

Stranded Technology describes the innovation created within research centres, developed within primary industry, or by our local innovation ecosystem that is not commercially accessible.

The Australian Innovation eXchange (AIX) supports Australia’s technology vendors as the ‘go-to channel’ for commercialising stranded technology, delivering new innovation to market.

Releasing Stranded Technology

AIX supports Australian technology companies to act as the commercialisation engine, ‘crossing the chasm’ by translating Australia’s innovations into products and services, delivered by Australian technology companies, serving global markets from within our national economy.

Industry

There is increasing demand on innovation to support the transition to a sustainable future.  Environment, social, diversity and inclusion are the highest priority across multiple industry sectors. Individual firms are unable to keep up with demand, looking towards collaborative solutions.

Research

Sustained industry investment has created a world-leading research sector in Australia. Demand for new innovation continues to grow. AIX is maximising the reach of Australian research, building commercial models for ongoing research investment and support.

Innovators

Innovative companies are built on the commercial viability of technology. To keep pace with industry demand, AIX is supporting local technology companies as the missing link – the innovation vehicle to close the gap in commercialising Australian technology

Investors

Australian innovation can struggle to reach investment readiness, with industry demand difficult to quantify. AIX helps define market potential for new technology, to help uncover stranded innovation and commercial pathways attracting investment support .

Commercial Maturity

AIX is enabling the translation of Australia’s innovation as products and services, to serve global markets, delivered by local companies, from within our national economy.

Delivery of innovation via local technology companies will capitalise on the sustained investment into Australia’s research and innovation ecosystem; generating a return on investment for the benefit of (and to improve) the sophistication of our national economy.

Stranded Technology

Stranded Technologies can be defined as: Innovation created within research centres, developed within primary industry, or by local innovators that is not commercially available to the wider market. AIX is maximising the reach of Australian innovation by making our local capability accessible for multiple industry sectors, available for export to serve international markets.

The Unique Background

Formed through an industry-led, government funded program, AIX is uniquely positioned to facilitate collaboration. Our organisation is not an industry body, research organisation, investor or innovator. As an honest broker, the Australian Innovation eXchange can address the individual needs of each stakeholder group while maximising our innovation ecosystems full potential. Building on the experience of the Industry Growth Centre program, AIX will address the commercialisation challenges of our world leading innovation ecosystems.
